Bio: The Who? What? When? Where? and Why? of Mr. Hill
I grew up in Chester and attended school at both CAES and GMUHS. I went on to study American History and Education at Clark University in Worcester Massachusetts. I am now in my third year teaching middle school at GM. I started in the seventh grade and moved up last year to the eighth grade. This transition has been amazing. I have been more than happy to share my love of history with the learning community here at GM. The goal of the Clark program is to motivate teachers to love teaching, to enjoy working with kids, and build classroom communities dedicated to learning. It has been my goal to share a love of knowledge and learning with the my students.
My goal this year is to build a classroom in which students feel comfortable both with me as the teacher and with each other as peers. Our work this year will focus on developing those critical thinking and analytical skills that are the hallmark of well-rounded students. At the close of this year at GM I hope to send forth a group of young thinkers who are not afraid to ask difficult questions and are willing to take on the challenge of critical/hypothetical thinking.
Sociology: As part of the curriculum the class of juniors and seniors will be organizing and fundraising for a field study trip to NYC. This trip will take place at the end of the year as our final project. We will need to fundraise for this trip well in advance to help reduce direct student expenses. If parents have fundraising ideas for the sociology class please let me know and we will see what we ca organize.
Class Advisor:
I will be serving the eighth grade as co-class advisor with Norm Merrill for the 2010-2011 school year. Any questions, fundraising ideas, volunteer opportunities please feel free to contact me at the school.
I will also be co-advisor to the ninth grade class with Kelly Goodrich. High school parents with questions should feel free to contact me at the school or via email.
