I was born in Hanover, NH, and attended Hanover High School. Following this, I attended Keene State College, receiving a Bachelor of Music degree.
Following Keene, I received a Master's Degree from the University of Illinois at Champaign/Urbana. I am married to Jennifer, and have two children; Christy, a daughter living in Keene, and Hans, a son now living in the area, pursuing a degree in Nursing.
Our "at-home children" include Smokey, a rescued cat from T.A.R.P.S., and Auge, an injured kitten dropped off in the road at night, and found by Hans.
The Middle and High School Bands perform in three concerts at the school, and several parades, in Chester and out of state. Students have the opportunity to audition for select groups, with the Connecticut Valley Music Festival Ass. District performing groups, at both middle and high school levels. High School students may audition for the VT All-State Music Festival and/or the New England Music Festival Ass. performing groups.
Students interested in Drama have several opportunities. Middle School students may audition for the Spring Musical in April, and the Middle School Drama Production in June. High School students may audition for the Fall Drama Production in November, the Spring Musical, and the District Drama Production [a statewide Festival] in March.
During the summers, I co-direct the Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl "All-Star Band", a band made up of students from NH and VT, who are recommended by their directors. The students rehearse for three days, and perform in the Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl Parade, and for the half-time show of the game.
