World Languages Department
The objectives of the world language courses are to develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in the target language and to have students experience various aspects of another culture. As little English as possible is spoken in the classroom. It is recommended that students follow as long a sequence as possible in order to become fully immersed in the respective language and culture. Students are expected to give their language study their best effort. Students with final grades of 75 or better pass to the next level. Admission to advanced levels of language is dependent upon the recommendation of the instructor. Some levels of advanced language may be combined, depending upon enrollment. As a department, we encourage students to
participate in foreign exchange programs as a way to expand their knowledge and experience with different cultural groups.
