Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to Green Mountain Union High School. I invite you to be involved in your child's education, and I hope you will contact me if you have any questions or comments. I appreciate parent and community involvement in the activities at Green Mountain, and I hope you will feel comfortable participating in all aspects of your child's experience here.
A few notes about student responsibilities in my classes--
*Every Monday I will give them an assignment sheet for each day's work.
*For long-range projects and papers I will give them a handout detailing the objectives, procedures, and evaluation criteria.
*For all classes for following Department Standards will be in effect:
1. Late work will be penalized on the student's grade by 10% per day. I use a 100-point grading scale for all work, so that means 10 points off the grade for each day late.
2. Students will be graded on class participation. Criteria will include participation in discussion, observing respectful interaction rules, and being on task. The participation grade will range from 10-15% of their quarter grade.
* Students will also be assessed on homework, short papers, portfolio pieces, and tests and quizzes.
*Please know that technology is a tool, and so it will not be an excuse for late work. Students may hand-write work that cannot be produced and/or printed on a computer.
I hope you will contribute to your child's success by encouraging him or her to read at least one book per month in addition to the classroom selections and by supporting them in their daily homework.
Thank you very much, Anne Kipp
